Surface treatment of Fresco power and distribution tanks:
- Tanks are grit blasted after pressure leak testing. Grit blasting ensures that the entire surface area is cleaned and no contamination, oil traces or rust is left on the tank surface. The grit blasting process also gives the necessary profile which facilitates paint adhesion on metal. The tanks are grit blasted to Sa 2 1/2 as per ISO 8501 or SSPC-SP-10.
FRESCO offers the following wide spectrum of paint systems as per customer requirements.
- Tanks externally coated with epoxy base primers, intermediate MIO primers and paints with final paint shade as per customer specifications.
- Tanks externally coated with zinc rich base primers + epoxy intermediate MIO primers + polyurethane – PU top coat paints with final paint shade as per customer specifications.
- Only hot dip galvanized (HDG) tanks without any of the above mentioned paint systems.
- Hot dip galvanized (HDG) and hot spray galvanized (HSG) tanks are subsequently coated with any of the above mentioned paint systems.
- FRESCO offers various paint systems in accordance to ISO 12944-2:2018 – Global Corrosion Standards.
Technical features of FRESCO power and distribution tanks:
- Corrugated fins manufactured on fully automatic machines with an accuracy of ?1mm.
- Seam welding done on corrugated fins with latest fully automatic welding machines.
- Tank components are cut on CNC based laser cutting machine.
- Tank components are bent on fully automatic CNC based bending machine.
- All tanks undergo a 100% air pressure test before and after grit blasting to ensure leak proofness.
- Tanks are grit blasted to SA 2 1/2 with a grit blasting profile of min. 50-70 microns.
- All tanks are flow coated with epoxy two pack paints, since flow coating ensures that the paint reaches hard to reach points of the tank and guarantees min. paint thickness on all tank surfaces.
- All tanks are internally flushed with solvent prior to internal painting with hot oil resistant paint, to ensure no oil or foreign particles are present in the tanks.
- Packing configuration is done such that all accessories of the tank are packed on sturdy seaworthy and roadworthy wooden pallets or wooden crates.
- FRESCO manufactures all the wooden pallets in-house and pays special attention to tank packaging and the accessories used for packing. All domestic vehicles and export containers are loaded and sealed in the factory itself, to be only opened at the customer end.
Quality assurance and testing of FRESCO tanks:
- FRESCO has a well-established quality system accredited by ISO 9001:2015. FRESCO has a stringent incoming material and in?process quality plan with the help of quality tools, the rejection and rework levels are continuously checked and controlled.
- FRESCO quality plan of manufacturing tanks incorporates routine and type tests applicable for power and distribution transformer tanks.
Routine inspections carried on FRESCO tanks:
- All tanks after assembly undergo a full dimensional check.
- All distribution tanks are pressure tested at customer specified.
- Stud torque test is carried out.
- After painting the paint thickness is measured on all tanks using SPC technique to guarantee minimum thickness all over the tank.
- Paint peel-off test as per ASTM 33 59 83 is performed on randomly selected tanks.
- Packing inspection to ensure safe delivery of the tanks at customer end.
Routine and type test inspections carried on FRESCO power and distribution tanks:
- Pressure test.
- Vacuum test.
- Hydro test.
Identification and material traceability of FRESCO power and distribution tanks:
- Each tank manufactured by FRESCO has a unique number punched on the tank and this number helps in maintaining the quality records of each job manufactured.
- This unique number helps us in deriving the entire history of each tank i.e. workmen names who have worked on the subject tank or the different inspections which were carried out with relevant inspector names, the time intervals between two coats of primer/paint along with total raw material traceability.
- Flawless and smooth weld finish on all weld joints.
- Strong and sturdy stud welding assembly. Perfect flatness in mounting flanges, LV and HV pockets and corresponding mating components.
- Internal and external paint finish.
- Good and appealing tank aesthetics.
